The summer semester of school is over. For the next couple of weeks I'm off to my home in Missouri where I will spend time recuperating, watching TV and movies, and sleeping. Right now I am packing my belongings up and vacating my room at Delta Sig but not without taking a break after my last final to write this post and watch some TV.

I only just recently started watching the BBC show Luther. Initially I came across it while searching for replacement shows for Sherlock but I only just now came around to actually watching it. While Sherlock is a fairly light-hearted show (especially series 3), Luther isn't. There aren't as many jokes or comic interactions such as the one between Sherlock and Watson. Luther is just a gritty crime drama show, think along the lines of True Detective except everybody has a British accent. And I'll have to say it's definitely worth the watch.

So I guess it's time to get through my first real post. We'll see how this goes.

Seeing as finals are next week and mine are 8 am's, it seemed imperative to me that this weekend was not only dedicated to trying to study but also to trying to correct my sleep schedule. Ever since I bought the Wolfthorn Old Spice body wash for nocturnal creatures, (http://www.oldspice.com/en-US/product.aspx?id=2365) I have found myself waking up around 7 or 8 pm and going to sleep whenever my class ends in the morning. Other than the fact that my melatonin levels are so erratic and I barely see the sun, I prefer the darkness. In the scorching heat of the Atlanta summer it is much easier to get work done in the middle of the night without sweating profusely.

Of course by doing work I mean watching movies. The most recent movie I watched is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Trying to reset my sleep schedule I woke up quite early on a Saturday morning and decided the best way to stay awake would be to take a 2-mile trek to the nearest movie theater and watch the film. After about 20 minutes of trailers of which the only ones that were interesting were for the new Sin City and Guardians of the Galaxy,  the movie began.

Out of all the new summer releases I have seen this year this was by far one of the best up there with the likes of X-Men: DOFP, and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Not only were the CGI of the apes astounding but the plot was a good mix of all the things that are required for a well rounded movie. Drama, bits of comedy thrown in, and of course full on intense fight/battle scenes. Despite the fact that one of the factions of the movie was computer generated, I felt that this movie was very well acted. The apes elicited more emotion and response from the audience than the humans did and if a CGI actor could get nominated for an award this would be the film for that to happen. The apes were really the only thing holding the movie together. The human acting wasn't necessarily bad but at times they were fairly one dimensional. The apes were easily 3D. The interactions between Koba and Caesar really made the movie for me. And despite what is normally seen as a lengthy movie time of ~2:10 I was never bored and was always anticipating what comes next.

Always looking for the next movie to watch I made my way home thinking about what was next on my to watch list. Or perhaps it was time to catch up a bit on TV shows?

After a brief tour of this website it looks as if I have a gist of things and will start blogging in earnest from thus forward. You will probably see a reasonable amount of activity for a while until either I get bored of writing, forget to update, or don't have time. Expect a lot of posts regarding movies I have recently seen, things I have recently heard about or am doing etc. This should be a good way for people who know me already to see what I have been up to lately.

Keep in mind I have never ever been a decent writer or even liked writing. This is more of just a record of what's going on in my life and an avenue through which people can get to know what I'm doing. I also feel like I need a new hobby and hopefully this will turn into one that is both informative to others as well as beneficial to myself through the self reflection and writing practice it promotes.
